Wow!

Today I purchased 3 packs of HS Unleashed. I got amazing pulls. In one, I got 2 Steelix's: One of them being Steelix Prime! On my other pack, I got the rare Primeape. On the last one, I pulled both a Tyranitar (Regular), and a Lanturn Prime! So in one day, I got two ultra-rare Primes. Wow!

Steelix (HS Unleashed)

Today's Card Review is on Steelix. Steelix is a Stage 1 Pokemon, with 140 HP, a x2 weakness to Fire-types, a -20 resistance to Psychic-types, and a retreat cost of 4 Colorless energies. Steelix has a Poke-Body, and 2 attacks.

Steelix's Poke-Body, Perfect Metal, says that Steelix can't be affected by Special Conditions. This means that Steelix can't be Poisoned, Burned, Paralyzed, etc, which makes him even tougher to take out with his 140 HP.

Its first attack, for 2 Colorless Energies, is called Energy Stream. It does 30 damage, and allows you to attach an Energy from your discard pile to Steelix. This helps out his other attack.

Steelix's second attack, for 2 Metal energies and 3 Colorless energies, is called Gaia Crush. This attack does a whopping 100 damage, and its effect is great, as well. It lets you discard any Stadium card in play. This means if your opponent has a pesky Stadium in play, like Galactic HQ or Snowpoint Temple, you can discard it, along with probably your opponent's Pokemon.

For strategy, I would pair this up with the Diamond & Pearl Magnezone so it has a free retreat cost, and give Steelix an Expert Belt. Now he has 160 HP, and Gaia Crush can do 120! This card is so powerful, I would suggest making this card the heart and soul of your deck.

Well, that's it for today's review, stay tuned for tomorrow's!

Flygon Lv. X (Rising Rivals)

Today's Card Review is on Flygon Lv. X from the Rising Rivals series. Flygon has 140 HP, a x2 weakness to Colorless Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Electric-types, and no retreat cost. Flygon Lv. X has one Poke-Body, and one attack.

Flygon's Poke-Body is called "Wind Erosion," what this allows you to do is, EVERY turn, you get to discard the top card from your opponent's deck! As long as Flygon is your active Pokemon, of course.

For 3 Colorless Energies, its attack is called Extreme Attack. This attack is fantastic for getting rid of Lv. X's. It says select one of your opponent's Lv. X, and the attack does 150 damage to it. Most Lv. X's (Flygon included) don't even have 150 HP!

For strategy, I would pair this up with the Secret Wonders Flygon, who's Poke-Body allows you, as long as it is your active Pokemon, to put one damage counter on all of your opponent's Pokemon every turn, excluding Fighting Types. Since Lv. X's can still use Poke-Bodies and Poke-Powers from their non-level-up stage, this means, every turn, you can discard the top card from your opponent's deck, and put one damage counter on each of their Pokemon!

Well, that's it for today's Card Review, stay tuned for tomorrow's. And don't forget to leave your suggestions for future reviews!

Venusaur (Secret Wonders)

Today's Card Review is on Venusaur from the Secret Wonders series. Venusaur is a Stage 2 Pokemon with 130 HP, a +30 weakness to Fire-type Pokemon, no Resistance type, and a Retreat Cost of 3 colorless energies. Venusaur has one Poke-Power, and one attack.

Venusaur's Poke-Power, Miracle Aroma, is very good for wittling down your opponent's HP. It says once during your turn, flip a coin. If it's heads, choose between Asleep, Burned, or Poisoned, and the defending Pokemon has that special condition.

Venusaur's only attack for 2 Grass Energies and 1 Colorless energy, is called Giant Bloom. It does 60 damage, and you flip a coin. If heads, you take 40 damage off Venusaur! This lets him hang in there just a little longer.

For strategy, I would definitely pair this card up with either Toxicroak from Mysterious Treasures, or Heatran Lv. X, because their Poke-Bodies state that the defending Pokemon cannot get rid of Poisoned (Toxicroak) or Burn (Heatran). Also, special conditions can stack, so if you get lucky, you can get them Asleep, Poisoned, and Burned!

Well, that's it for today's Card Review, stay tuned for tomorrow's!

Gengar (D&P)

Today's Card Review is on Gengar from the Diamond & Pearl series. Gengar is a Stage 2 Pokemon with 110 HP, a +30 weakness to Dark-type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Normal-types, and a Retreat Cost of one Colorless Energy. Gengar has no Poke-Powers/Bodies, but does have 2 attacks.

Gengar's first move, for one Colorless Energy, is called Life Drain. This move is great for taking down high HP Pokemon. It lets you flip a coin, and if heads, you put the defending Pokemon down to 10 HP.

His second move compliments this very well, and can spread damage around. For two Psychic energies, and one Colorless energy, it is called Shadow Dance. This lets you put 4 damage counters on your opponent's Pokemon any way you like, then you switch Gengar with a Benched Pokemon. So you could either knock out the one you used Life Drain on, and focus damage on a benched Pokemon, or let another one knock it out.

For strategy, I would pair this up with Giratina Lv. X. You could bring the defending down to 10, then put damage on Benched Pokemon, switch over to Giratina and use Darkness Lost, put the 10 HP one to the Lost Zone, and really put damage on the others.

Well, that's it for today's Card Review, stay tuned for tomorrow's!

Giratina Lv. X (Platinum)

Today's Card Review is on Giratina Lv. X from the Platinum series. Giratina has an HP of 130, a x2 weakness to Dark-type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Normal-types, and a retreat cost of 3 Colorless Energies. Giratina has 1 Poke-Body, and one Attack.

Giratina Lv. X's Pokebody is called Invisible Tentacles. It says if your opponent wants to attack, they must discard a card from their hand. I must say, this is a fantastic Poke-Body. It has the ability to make your opponent lose out on some good cards, if they discard them, and if they can't/don't want to discard any cards, they can't attack!

Giratina's attack, for 2 Psychic Energies and 2 Colorless Energies, is called Darkness Lost. This attack spreads the damage really well. Darkness Lost does 30 damage to ALL of your opponent's Pokemon, and if any Pokemon is knocked out from this damage, they are sent to the Lost Zone.

I know what you may be wondering, "What is the Lost Zone?" Well, the Lost Zone is an advanced discard pile. Once something is sent to the Lost Zone, it can't be retrieved through means of cards like Night Maintenance or Poke-Powers. Therefore, this attack is GREAT for taking out a lot of your opponent's good Pokemon, possibly ruining their strategy.

Well, that's it for today's Card Review, stay tuned for tomorrow's!
